How to Import Leads Through CSV?

Importing leads via CSV is a powerful way to add customized prospect lists into Outboundry quickly, enabling you to manage and target your outreach efficiently. Follow this easy step-by-step guide to upload your leads from a CSV file and get started with your campaigns.

1. Prepare Your CSV File

Before uploading, ensure your CSV file is properly formatted:

  • Include LinkedIn Profile URLs: Each lead should have their LinkedIn public profile URL starting with "https://".

  • Use the Correct Format: Save your file in CSV (Comma Separated Values) format, preferably in UTF-8 encoding.

  • Add Relevant Columns: Common fields include First Name, Last Name, Email, Company, Job Title, and LinkedIn URL. Though only the LinkedIn URL is mandatory, adding more data helps with personalization.

  • Avoid Duplicates: Make sure leads are not duplicated within the file or already present in other campaigns.

  • Limit Upload Size: Most platforms allow importing up to thousands of rows; verify Outboundry’s limit (typically up to 5,000 contacts per import).

2. Access the Leads or Lists Section

  • Log into your Outboundry dashboard.

  • Navigate to the Leads or Lists section where you want to import the contacts.

  • If creating a new list, you can create and name an empty list first for better organization.

3. Start the Import Process

  • Inside your chosen list, look for an Import button or an option like Upload CSV.

  • Click it to open the file selector.

  • Choose your prepared CSV file from your computer.

4. Map CSV Fields to Outboundry Fields

Once the file is uploaded, you will be prompted to map each column in your CSV to the corresponding fields in Outboundry:

  • Match your CSV columns (e.g., "First Name", "Email", "LinkedIn URL") to the system fields.

  • If your CSV contains custom fields, look for options to map or create these in Outboundry.

  • Confirm the mappings to proceed.

5. Review and Confirm the Import

  • Check the preview of your leads before final import.

  • Make sure there are no errors or missing data in key columns.

  • Confirm to start importing your leads into the selected list.

6. Post-Import Lead Status and Verification

  • Imported leads usually show as Not Verified initially, as Outboundry begins validating the profiles automatically.

  • After a verification process (which involves checking LinkedIn profiles), status updates to Not Connected, meaning these prospects are ready for outreach.

  • If any duplicates or invalid URLs are found during verification, Outboundry will prevent imports of those entries to keep your list clean.

7. Use Your Imported Leads in Campaigns

  • Once your list is ready, create or update campaigns and select the imported lead list as your target audience.

  • You can personalize messages using the additional fields imported.

  • Monitor lead activity and campaign progress from your dashboard.

Tips for a Successful CSV Import

  • Always keep a backup of your original CSV file.

  • Clean your data regularly to avoid sending messages to outdated or incorrect leads.

  • Use consistent formatting to make field mapping faster and reduce errors.

  • Avoid uploading Sales Navigator URLs; use classic LinkedIn profile URLs instead.
