Lead Statuses in Outboundry: What They Mean

In Outboundry, every lead added to a campaign is assigned a status that reflects their current stage in the outreach journey.

These statuses help you:

  • Track campaign progress

  • Understand lead engagement

  • Take the right next action

  • Identify issues (e.g., bounced, skipped leads)

Each status is automatically updated based on lead activity and campaign execution.

Status Lifecycle (How Leads Progress)

A typical lead flow looks like:

Not Started → In Progress → Contacted → Engaged → Replied / Completed

Other statuses like Paused, Skipped, Blacklisted, or Bounced can occur at any stage depending on conditions.

Terminal vs Non-Terminal Statuses

Terminal Statuses (End of Journey)

  • Replied

  • Completed

  • Blacklisted

👉 No further automation happens

Non-Terminal Statuses (Ongoing)

  • Not Started

  • In Progress

  • Contacted

  • Engaged

  • Paused

  • Skipped

👉 Leads can still move forward

Why Lead Statuses Matter

Lead statuses help you:

  • Prioritize hot leads (Replied, Engaged)

  • Identify issues (Skipped, Bounced)

  • Monitor campaign performance

  • Take timely actions

Best Practices

  • Focus on Replied and Engaged leads first

  • Regularly review Skipped and fix data issues

  • Remove or verify Bounced emails

  • Use Paused strategically for manual control

  • Avoid re-targeting Blacklisted leads
