If you’re importing leads into Outboundry using a CSV file, you’ll need to map the columns in your file to the fields Outboundry uses internally (like first name, last name, LinkedIn profile, company, etc.). This article explains how to match your CSV columns to Outboundry fields so that your contacts are imported correctly.
📥 Step 1: Prepare Your CSV
Before uploading:
Ensure your CSV file has a header row with column names
Remove any empty rows or duplicate headers
Include only relevant columns (email, name, job title, LinkedIn URL, etc.)
Common columns include:
First Name
Last Name
Email
Company
Job Title
LinkedIn Profile URL
📤 Step 2: Upload Your CSV in Outboundry
Go to the Leads tab inside your campaign
Click Import Leads
Choose CSV Upload
Upload your CSV file
After uploading, you’ll be taken to the Field Mapping screen.
🔁 Step 3: Map Your CSV Fields to Outboundry Fields
On the Field Mapping screen you will see:
Your CSV columns on the left
Outboundry fields on the right
For each CSV column, select the corresponding Outboundry field.
Example:
Your CSV Column |
Map to Outboundry Field |
|---|---|
FirstName |
First Name |
LastName |
Last Name |
LinkedInURL |
LinkedIn Profile URL |
JobTitle |
Job Title |
CompanyName |
Company |
Select the right match from the dropdown.
🎯 Required vs Optional Fields
Outboundry requires certain fields for a successful import:
Email (optional but mandatory for email outreach)
LinkedIn Profile URL (optional but mandatory for LinkedIn outreach)
First Name / Last Name (recommended for personalization)
If a required field is missing, Outboundry will show a warning so you can fix the mapping before importing.
🔍 If a Field Doesn’t Exist in Your CSV
If your CSV doesn’t have a column for a particular Outboundry field:
Choose Skip this field from the mapping dropdown
Or, update your CSV and re-upload it with the missing column
Outboundry will still import contacts even if optional fields are skipped — but personalization or automation steps may be affected.
✨ Advanced Mapping Tips
Use Consistent Headers
Make your CSV headers easy to identify, like:
First Name
Email
LinkedIn Profile
Company
This helps you map faster.
Don’t Import Blank Columns
Remove any columns with mostly empty data to reduce confusion during mapping.
Correct Data Format
Ensure:
Emails are valid
LinkedIn URLs start with
https://www.linkedin.com/Names are properly capitalized
🚀 Step 4: Complete the Import
Once all fields are mapped:
Click Next or Import
Outboundry will start processing your data
You’ll see a confirmation when import is completed
Imported leads will now appear in your Leads tab with the correct field values.
🧠 What Happens After Import
After successful import:
You can add these leads to your sequences
Personalization variables (like
{{first_name}},{{company}}) will work if mapped correctlyYou can enrich leads using the Lead Finder or Email Finder module
❓ Troubleshooting Tips
“My leads didn’t import”
Check that:
Your CSV was uploaded correctly
Required fields were mapped
Emails or LinkedIn URLs are valid
“Some fields are blank”
Make sure your CSV columns have the correct data and you mapped them to the correct Outboundry fields.
